Trackball tuning for the MX ERGO and ERGO M575.
Make the buttons, pointer and scrolling fit your hand.
macOS 14 or later (tested on macOS 27) · Apple Silicon and Intel · English and Japanese
Reach the controls Logitech’s own software leaves out, and treat them as first-class buttons.
Precision button, left, right and middle click, back and forward, wheel tilt, Easy-Switch. Only the buttons your connected device actually has are offered.
A short press and a press-and-hold can do different things. The hold threshold is adjustable from 100 to 1500 ms.
While a button is held, ball movement becomes vertical and horizontal scrolling — no need to move your finger to the wheel.
Hold a button and roll up, down, left or right for four more actions. Ideal for switching desktops or moving between tabs.
Long documents keep gliding after the wheel stops. Tune how far and how fast it coasts; any input stops it instantly.
Set resolution and the acceleration curve per device, well past the range the macOS slider can reach.
List the apps that should keep stock behaviour — games, streaming tools — and customization switches itself off while they are frontmost.
Assign any key combination to a button, alongside Mission Control, Application Windows, Show Desktop and more.
Save every setting to a JSON file and restore it later — no rebuilding your setup on a new Mac.
Only the models it has been tested against. Every other Logitech device is left untouched.
| Model | Buttons | Pointer and scrolling | Device switching |
|---|---|---|---|
| MX ERGO Unifying receiver |

Battery level sits in the menu bar. Connect both trackballs and you see both levels.
macOS permissions are needed to control a trackball. A guide walks you through them on first launch.
| Permission | Purpose | |
|---|---|---|
| Accessibility | Observing left and right clicks, detecting press-and-hold gestures | Required |
| Input Monitoring | Communicating with the trackball and receiving its buttons | Required |
| Event posting | Performing the keystrokes and clicks you assign | Comes along |
Event posting has no entry of its own in System Settings; granting Accessibility enables it too.
Elgotune makes no network connections and never records keystrokes. See the privacy policy for details.

Signed with a Developer ID and notarized by Apple, so it opens on a double-click with no warning. Not on the Mac App Store — its sandbox rules make button and pointer control impossible.
The build is notarized, so there is no need to right-click and choose “Open” — a double-click works.
Only if it earned it. Nothing about the app changes either way.
Bugs and requests are welcome on GitHub Issues, or at admin@gigowat.com.
Driving the same button from both conflicts, so quit Logi Options+ while using Elgotune. Turning Elgotune’s customization off returns every button to its stock behaviour.
Quitting restores the pointer values and every button to the macOS defaults, so nothing is left behind if you uninstall.
Middle click, back and forward, wheel tilt and the precision button apply only to supported devices. Left and right click assignments are the exception: macOS events carry no device identity, so those apply to any connected mouse. Leave left and right click at their defaults and nothing else is affected.
Yes. Both sets of buttons work simultaneously and both battery levels are shown. Assignments are shared across devices.
Pointer speed and acceleration rely on an interface Apple does not document. A future macOS could withdraw it, which would disable pointer tuning only — the rest of the app and its launch are unaffected. An updated build follows as soon as that happens.
Yes. No locked features, no trial period, no ads. The source is published under the GPLv3, so you can build it yourself, or modify and redistribute it — provided your version is GPLv3 too.
Both supported models are available on Amazon.co.jp.
Connects through the Unifying receiver. Its precision button and tilt make it the model this app does the most with.
Connects over Bluetooth or the Unifying receiver. Left, right and middle click, back and forward, pointer and scrolling.
